Money & sales
Crowd vs sales
Whether a room made more or less than it usually does on a night with a similar crowd. Two independent readings of the same night, each ranked only against that venue’s own history.
What it is
Each venue's latest full night is placed on two axes. Across: how busy that night ran, measured as its count of hours at Packed or busier, ranked against the same count on the venue's own recent nights. Up: what the night earned, ranked against only the venue's own past nights that had a similar crowd. Because the money reading is conditioned on the crowd reading, the two axes stay independent: a busy night is not called a good night just for being busy.
How to read it
Right of centre: busier than this venue's own nights usually run. Above centre: it earned more than it usually does when it is that busy. The lower-right corner is the one to act on — the crowd was there and the money was not. Two venues in the same corner are each off their own pattern; this is never a ranking of venues or operators.
What it doesn't mean
⚠ What it can't tell you
It says a night was off the room's own pattern, not why. A private event, weather, a broken terminal or a comp-heavy night all land in the same place. Where door cover is taken outside the sales feed, the money reading understates exactly the busy nights this view selects — check the venue's own Sales page before concluding anything.
How it's calculated
From each venue's recent completed, settled nights (up to 12): count the measured hours at Packed or above per night; rank the latest night's count among the venue's own prior nights (mid-rank for ties); then rank the latest night's net sales among only those prior nights whose busy-hour count matches exactly, in the same currency. A venue joins the picture once it has 4 past nights with a similar crowd; below that floor it is listed as building rather than plotted.
